Great shots Greg. I'm sure you had one hell of a day on Sat.; one which you'll never forget.
So when you're shooting from the end court, elevated, do you pre-focus on the net and just assume the players will be in focus? I've got to hand it to you folks on the timing of your shots. The ones I take are always a hair too late. I'm shooting w/xt and let's assume the 200 2.8 and one-shot mode, do the 1 series or even the 30d make that much of a difference for sports? Is there a big difference in shutter lag, or does it come down to experience?
I'm still new to it, but I do not pre-focus. I do try to predict where they'll be. I have started using the the "*" button to focus, but I like being able to use both. For sports, im pushing with the * button.
And of course AI Servo is very important.
I usually have myself pointed at the net area and focus from there. Usually the center point or a little off center(on the 1D). If it were the 30D, i'd probably be direct center.
The 30D will have a faster/better AF than the XT, from what I recall. As for the 1D series. The AF speed is very noticable to me.
I mean if it was super, i would have used the 30D to shoot with my Sigma on it at the football game because it gives me a FOV of almost 100mm more with the 1.6 crop factor.
