Hello.

For X-mas, I got my best friend's daughter a fisher price kid-tough cameras but was quite disappointed in its resolution when I tested it (640-480). My phone takes better pictures then that! But I think she's mature enough to take care of a "real" camera and I know she has an interest because she's always enthusiastic about my SLR and she has a toy camera from the 99 cent store that she loves to take pretend pictures with.

So I'm looking for something that is cheep (under $80), easy to use and hopefully at or above 3MPs. Can anyone recommend a make and model or a good place to get one? It looks like B&H's cheapest Canon, an A530, is still $150 bucks.

All Canon: 350D / 5D / 50mm 1.8 / 10-22mm / 100mm 2.8 Macro / MP-E 65mm Macro /
24-105 4L IS / 70-200 2.8L IS / 2x T-con / 580 Ex Flash (2)
Other Stuff: Slingshot 300 / Stealth Reporter 650 / Extension tube set / a few sigmas

not too helpful, but stay away from the white Polaroid camera, we got one at Wal-Mart for $70 or so and it took the crappiest pictures i have ever seen from a camera. We promptly returned it.

I went through this last year with my 4 yr old (now 5) and we tried 2 different cameras that were under a hundred bucks. Neither of them had any decent quality and both were difficult to use. I think a person really needs to just buy the cheapest brand name camera they can find and run with that, I have been letting him use my a95 from time to time but only when I am right there with him. Besides he likes to look at the picture right away, he could care less if I dload it to the PC and or print it for him. He just like saying "say cheeezeee" and then looking at the picture to see what he captured.

The canon A530 can be had for about $130. I think a child could use it very well while supervised by mom or dad and quickly learn how to when they arent around. Plenty of automated modes.

60D, Canon 18-135 IS, Sigma 10-20 hsm, 24-70 2.8 hsm, 70-200 2.8 hsm, 430EX II, and all the other stuff that goes along with it.

I hate to recommend a non-canon brand but I'd recommend the Kodak 3900. I got the 3800 years ago and it was pretty durable. It is a pretty basic camera and can be found on ebay inexpensively.

You might want to consider other similar items of the same era
