You hook the card reader to your computer...then remove the card from your camera, put it in the card reader, transfer pictures from card to computer...return the card to camera...format card so you can begin shooting again. A card reader is definitely the easiest way to go. When the card is installed it acts as another directory and all commands work on it as they would any directory. If you COPY from card to PC, the files will stay on the card. If you MOVE from card to PC, the will not be on the card when finished. I always copy and make sure everything transferred ok before I re-format the card. Not sure why, but call me JJ.
