Hi

I am looking for a place that would print coffee table books in Canada.
Is there such a place? All the ones I have seen so far are in the USA and I would prefer not to have to pay for custom and brookerage fees if I can have something in the country.

thanks

Stephan

One place I've dealt with is BonMatch. Give them a look. http://www.bonmatch.com/ (external link)

Coffee Table books?? Have you seen the books that "Blacks" and " Futurephoto" are making now? Check them out www.futurephoto.ca (external link) and www.blacksphoto.com (external link)

I haven't made one with blacks yet, but I have with Futureshop. The only issue I have with futureshop so far is that they put a extra page in the back with their logo on it. Is that really needed? We're paying for the product, I don't need their branding on the back page.

I too am looking for someplace in canada that does 'professional' coffee books, with more options like the big places down in the states.

Just looked at bonmatch, wow, they are located just 30 mins from my house! I'll have to check them out.

Yes, I am also looking for this. Just checked out Bonmatch and absolutely LOVE their accessories. I think brides would dig having a cute little carry case for their album and would be more inclined to take it out and about to show people - spreading the word...

Looks like a good option for Vancouver/Lower Mainland photographers in any case.

Most of the places do ship to canada, but then we're looking at other expenses not to mention sometimes longer ship times.

Asukabook ships to Canada, no extra brokerage fees or shipping times incurred.

Brokerage fees mostly apply only when you ship them via UPS, fedup and other large carrier with their own brokerage. If you have them ship via USPS (though can be unreliable at times), I believe it gets send off to Canada post for delivery. Canada at most charges $5 for handling fee + taxes. Though I'm sure you know, having the package go through customs can delay things a lot. Plus, I wouldn't really want customs going the albums and such though. If you are close to the border, you should look into mailing places that will receive your packages for you at a fee, and you can broker your own things at the border.

I tried future shop. They CANNOT handle black and white photos. All images that are b&w are printed with a brown tinge. And there is the issue of the logo at the back. I asked them not to put it in but they refused to comply...

I went online to try blacks. I could not open their webpage. I called their support line and they told that when using a router that has a firewall, their page is not accessible    I am going to disconnect everything with my router everytime i need to make a book or make a change to a book...

I just received my first Asuka Books today. I am in Ontario. The shipping took 5 days. I used USPS, so no brokage fees. They are so worth the International shipping. You can't beat their quality and price.

I made an appointment with Bonmatch and went in last week to meet with them. Great company to deal with. They had a nice selection of samples to look thru. I REALLY like their coffee books. I bought a few self mount albums as well. Priced very well.

I thought I might update this thread. I bought a few self mount albums (magnetic) from them. I made both a 5x7 and a 4x6 for some family/friends of their wedding that I attended. Both were floored when they opened the album up at xmas time.

Funny enough, both of them got 'pro' photographers to shoot their wedding, and hand them a CD with images (no album). They said mine will be the main album for them!
