The 17-40 is a great lens, but I would not be with out my 17-50 2.8 Tamron. It produces sharp vibrant images on my 30D and has served me well indoors and in low light. Good luck on your choice.

Does anybody own a Sigma 24-70 f/2.8? Yet another lens consideration because of budget. Not as wide but more zoom compared to my other choices. 5D MK2, 85 1.8, 24-70L, 580 EXII, Strobist Kit, AB Kit with Vaga Mini, Fuji X100T
