A620: Problems with "bubbles" in pics

I have a Cannon digital A620. Great camera, but recently, I have noticed some "bubbles" in some of our pictures. It is not in every picture, and when they do appear they are in various places. I have attached two pictures and highlighted the "bubbles". Does anyone know what is causing this? Again, it only occurs in some of the pictures we take, not all.

Hi Jeff. That's a good one. I own an A620 and follow most of the threads regarding problems and have yet to see this one. I wish I could help but I'm stumped. If you shoot a white wall or foam board, or something with a solid color do you see it? Can you see anything consistent in camera settings for the shots with the bubble?

It's not peculiar to the 620. There have been several threads on this problem in the past and the "bubbles" are almost certainly due to reflections from the flash bouncing back from places around the room or from spots on the subject causing lens flare.

You were using flash for both these images - right?

Well that would explain why I've never seen it before. I never use the built in flash.

I belive that every time I have noticed the "bubbles" the flash was used. I guess that expliand it, I just wish I knew how to remedy the problem so I don't accidentially ruin a good pic.....

Only use flash in an area that's had an air purifier running for the preceding several hours :{)#
If you get a "slave" flash that you move away from the camera, you'le mitigate the problem because an off-camera flash won't reflect off the dust directly into the lens as much. And if you think it's a problem now - you really don't want to try shooting underwater with an on-camera flash.

I find that getting a top quality photo while using the little built in flash on P&S cameras is quite hard, so I rarely use it, preferring to use a tripod and slower exposure using the available light.

But if you have a photo that is excellent apart from the lens flare spots, then of course they can be removed by a bit of work with the "clone" tool available in most editing programs.

Incidentally, the problem is not always caused by dust. I had a photo where blobs were caused by the flash reflecting off a window in the background, even though it was covered by a curtain - some of the flash got through.
