it appears alot of people do weddings, and like senior portraits. so those that do those, do you run everthing from your own home or do you have an office/studio area? it appears to me one could probably be quit succesful running out of a small home office if one knew how to market themselves. so am i in the right direction. thank you.

I run my operation within my home and on location. I have a full time job and photography is something I have been blessed to learn and grow into over the years. Not going to quit my day job in order to hurt myself financially. Not going to increase my debt to have an offsite location. Many PPA photographers are using their homes and is making over 6 figures a year.

Locally there is studio space available for rent but clients go through trends of wanting outdoor shots and some clients even prefer to use their homes as backdrops since they put so much money into them to decorate.

I deal with some very professional clients from time to time and they understand keeping their business in the Black and cost of overhead. Bottom line is the product you deliver.

Not going to debate if who is a pro or what it takes to become considered as a pro.

Good Luck

that is exactly what i was thinking. i truely love photography and everything about it. i really wish to get into photojournalism but at the same time i have to be able to provide for my family. so if the photojournalism thing doesn't work out i would like to be able to do weddings and portrait work in my spare time. not out to make lots, but maybe enough to help buy some new gear, and provide people with lasting memories. and i am defiantly going to be running it out of my home, that way i can keep reinvesting everything into the business and don't have to worry about things like rent and utlities.

That's how I got started and the trend is going today with alot of my mentors. Space here in Vegas runs an average of $1.25 a square foot for the low traffic areas and as High as $4.00 for the high traffic areas thats alot of Portraits to sell to make rent.

Good Luck
