Hey all,

question,How do you take, if you do, your own self portrait, but full body pics?

i tried tonight, using a mirror

i sat on my bed, and stuck out my hand to about where i was going to stand to focus the cam, kind of worked, went with candles so had to stand still, didnt quiet focus.. should of aimed for my head... i have read about placing an object where your fce will be, but i dont have anything that high :D

lup for tips, as any full body pic i ever take of myself i hate to death, which is why i dont own any! but i want to get into people pictures, and getting people to pose, and i figure if i cant pose and look good, can imake someone else?

any good poses or anything?

here is what came out, it is probably the best i have ever done, but still is rather crap..lol

Man, you don't look chubby :p

One easier way of doing this is just getting a sucker.. er, friend to come along and pose for you - it's much easier and less time consuming and you get the constant feedback of seeing how things look as the person moves.

I haven't tried full body pictures with an SLR myself but using a tripod and prefocusing on an object (or manually focusing to the right point) where your head or whatever you want in focus is going to be sounds like the best bet... a couple of shots should get the framing right and then you could work on poses from there.

My $0.02 anyway. Good luck! I have a lot of difficulty doing self-portraits with a SLR myself... it's all a bit unwieldy :p

++ Also ensure that your shutter speed is sufficient that you aren't going to have motion blur from your breathing/slight body movement - I think I can see a bit in that image but it's a little hard to tell. With just candles as light and I'm guessing the 17-85 as the lens you aren't going to have really fast shutter speeds...

You should be able to do that with manual focus. We used to shoot models @ 30 second exposures without problems. (Then they turned blue from holding thier breath!) :D
You might try cheating a bit of other light off the ceiling?

shall have to try that, there was some blur as i did breath, i had it on auto mode as well :(

just trying to see if i can do things before i decide to try it one soeone else, but then it is easier to use someone else then trying to pose yourself and take a pic :D

I use a remote for my camera. It does focus and shoots in 2 secondes...
