Hi gyrob,

sometimes it just doesn't go the way you want no matter how hard you plan. The worst thing is that when you are all focussed on being creative in one way its hard to jump the tracks and be creative in another way.

Maybe tomorrow....

all the best

Okay. Tea is a matter of personal preference. I'm a coffee drinker.

Footy pages would be the sports pages of the newspaper, I'm guessing. The 'footy' must refer to football (soccer, to me).

How am I doing so far?

What the hey is a bacon butty? It sounds absolutely naughty.

Coffee is allowed of course. It is interchangable these days in any greasy cafe. No need to hang on to the English = 'Tea Drinker' stereotypes (or in your day monotypes!)

Sports pages - correct. Soccer is a word that only has currency in AmeriKa. Everywhere else it is called by the correct name, as you will know ;)

Bacon Butty is not an 'activity' involving an oinking animal and two white guys ... sorry to disappoint ... it is simply two pieces of bread and butter with bacon held within. Butty is scouse for sandwich :D

Since I only speak an obscure dialect of your mother tongue, I can hopefully be forgiven for my shameful lack of knowledge regarding.......

There is real football.. (My team is going to the Bowl!!... Undefeated season BSU:D :D ).. and then there's soccer that little diamond shaped ball that boys in short shorts like to kick around and bounce off their heads... But, from conversations with you i'm halfway there to considering soccer to being a sport otherwise known as football... ;) ..

as to the bacon butty I like mine with the L and the T but you are probably talking about an english version of this which sounds a bit more boring... But, trying to understand what the heck you are saying is entertaining atleast for me stuck in the empty restaurant until this afternoon... (again  ).. and i'm impressed at how well Mr. Belmondo did... much better than I would have i'm sure.. you lost me after greasy spoon which by the way I think is an American term.... ;)

A greasy spoon is a kind of cheap eaterie where the food is plentiful in both quantity and cholesterol, the table cloths are made of plastic, and feel sticky, and the cutlery is that heavy stainless steel stuff that doesn't shine, indeed may even be 'greasy'....I think there are places like that all over the world.

Best place to get a fried English breakfast though. Especially as you don't have to clean up afterwards...;)

No ... not weird: that use of language is wonderfully poetic but hardly real life. I lived in the East End for 3-4 years and folks don't talk like that ... tho' maybe they do to a limited extent.

Hard to beat some Sunday photo craic with a few select chums and then retiring together to a greasy for strong tea, bacon, egg, chips and mutual shot chimping ;) I might organise same before I leave Brum ... if I can be ar*ed.
