Awesome shots esp with the reflection. I didn't think balloons could take off at dusk. Or was it just a lightshow? They're pretty close together too! I would have loved to have been there.

it was just a glow. (You are correct, without special equipment they cannot take off after dark)

Thanks for the kind comments.

Superb shots, all looks like it went right for you, nice and still morning and no ripples on the water well done.

these were taken at about 6pm. The weather was absolutely PERFECT! Unlike this weekend (it's about 30), we had temps in the mid 60's, and clear skies. People who attend the event every year said it was the best weather they had ever had. It was the first time I had ever attended, so it was a nice bonus for me!

Thanks for your compliment.

Beautiful shots...the reflections are perfect and really add interest.
We have an annual ballon fiesta in my nearby city but unfortunately they don't have a lake on hand for reflections.

Balloons (any balloons) always make for good photos. In this case the lake reflections make for some stunning shots. Good sharp photos, nice work and thank god the lake was still.

thanks everyone for your very kind comments. It's funny, the lake was a little rough right before they put up the balloons, and then just as they started the event it became as smooth as glass. This really was one of the most ideal photo ops I have been to in a while. There were a lot of photographers there, and I really don't see how you could have left there without something worth hanging on your wall.

Later!

Exellently sharp and the reflections are just awesome, lovely colors to boot. my only critique is that the ballons to the sides of the frames being cut-off distracts me.

thanks Scottie.
Dorman, I agree - too bad I didn't have a wider setup with me.
Standard... - thanks! My fav is actually one of the other shots in my gallery, it doesn't even have any of the balloons lit:
