Saw this guy today and I can't figure out what he is. I remember him as more colorful than shows in the photos.

These aren't great shots. Mostly interested in IDing it.

Can you help me here?

Not sure about the ID but I like the perspective view on the first. Darn that twig on the second. Both are nicely captured though.

I think it is a male House Finch. He is a little puffed up, probably trying to keep warm.

Thanks. I know the twig is in the way. I tried whistling at him to get him to move, but he wouldn't budge until he flew off.

Hmm...his body really seemed a lot rounder than that. I know the coloration is that of a Finch, but he just seemed a lot fuller and not as sleek as I see in the house finch.
