Well, everyone seems to ask for new photos from new cameras here, so this is just a quick rundown of what I shot when I went out today with my new 30D for the first time. Must say I love the camera...great fun!

First, the obligatory duck shot, though unfortunately, he was too far away for real detail (and the lighting wasn't flattering.) Taken with 80-200L:

Next we have two dogs, while I was trying out the 5fps and AI Servo. I must say, tracking dogs at full runs is not as easy as I thought it would be:

Dog 2:

Next I went downtown for about 15 minutes, and took some shots (all are with the Tokina 12-24):

The riverside skyline of Columbus:

The Supreme Court of Ohio (was going for an imposing stature shot):

The Ohio flagpole in front of the courthouse (there are 50 flagpoles showing each state's founding)

The dog shots are great. Buildings are kind of sterile looking to me, but i'm not a fan of civic architecture shots.

Good duck too, I hope you are really enjoying your camera!

Nice shots. Were these out of the camera and if so did you use "Standard" Picture Style?
You will love this camera!

I had fun...didn't spend too much time out there, though. The light was only good from the southwest at the time I went, so I didn't go to the places I really wanted to shoot, but I couldn't stay down there until around sunset, which is when the light IS good from my preferred downtown locations. Oh well, it really was just a test run for the camera.

Here's a quick self-portrait. Love the high-ISO workings of this camera. ISO 1600 with my Tokina 12-24.

Great shots with a great camera :) I love the 1st dog shot.

I've had my 30D for a month now...and I just pleased as punch with its performance.

No...I've been shooting exclusively RAW for about a year and a half now (with a few exceptions). These are all shot in RAW, converted with C1 Pro and tweaked (curves, sharpening, resizing) in Photoshop CS2.

The only one I did more than a quick adjustment to was the 'Ohio flagpole' shot. The plaque on the flagpole was very bright...so I exposed about halfway between the background and the plaque, did two developments, one with a push and one with a pull, and put the darkened plaque onto the brightened background using a layer mask and some burning.
