I took several shots of this bird, but the AF was thrown off by the branches on all but this one. I have had no luck finding something like this in my bird books, so perhaps I can get some suggestions from the experts out there. (A friend suggested that it was a Junco, but it is too brown, and it has the wrong color bill.)

Note: It looks as though a shadow is being cast across its breast, and that may be the case, but the bird is indeed brown down to where you see the white feathers. Some of the OOF shots indicate that the wings may be a dark grey, like the top of its head.

Nice bird, and I agree, not a Junco.

Eastern Bluebird?

Interesting suggestion, and while the female Eastern Bluebird may look more grayish than the male, I can't see any hint of blue in any of the shots I have. Also, the breast seems too dark. However, it is the top suggestion so far ;) .

Female (first winter) Eastern Bluebird seems like a good shout to me.

Well, that seems to the the verdict, then. None of the sources I have indcate that she might be quite this dull-colored, but the white eye-ring seems to be a give-away. Thanks all.
