I got my 30D and 17-40 f4L

I love this camera. It's FAST, sounds great in comparison to my XT, which I'm keeping so I don't have to stop when I want my 70-200 f2.8 :D

Here are a few shots of the body and my first L lens.

Here is a small shot, the full size looks sharp. I love it !!

Now once I collect some money I can afford a bag to keep all my gear in.
I'm thinking a Tamrac Expedition 8 for everything on the go, or Domke F-1x shooting with just about everything.

Not much to shoot in Ames, Iowa right now. Plus it's COLD, making me abit lazy.

I dipped into savings for the lens so I could get the double rebate.

localchap, that could be due to compression or resizing without sharpening.

Looks great! I too just got my 30D yesterday. Love it! I will be adding the grip eventually, but I need to see how much cash I end up with after Christmas...if I have enough I'll have the grip after then, if not, it'll have to wait. I have noticed that shooting verticals sans grip with the 30D is easier than it was with the 300D, so that's good at least.

BTW, looking at your gear list, you should be fine with a Domke F-2...shouldn't need the F-1, unless you really need to carry your second body ready to shoot. I've got the F-2, and it fits one body with lens attached, all the lenses below, my flash, AA charger, camera battery charger, 4 filters of two different sizes, spare batteries (both BP-511 and AA), the hood for my 12-24 (which doesn't fit in the lens pocket), a Sto-fen Omnibounce, and my set of extension tubes. Not too bad. :)

Here is a 100% crop at 600x600 (external link) I thought it was sharp but correct me if I'm wrong.

I love the new feel of the 30D vertical as well over my XT(350). The control and speed between the two is night and day.

As for the bag I would like to carry both cameras ready to shoot. 30D w/17-40 & Xt w/70-200. Only thing is a shoulder bag will feel heavier with all the gear vs a backpack.

could be a sharper pic, but pixel peeping ain't what it's all about.

Have fun, take lots of pictures. Great stuff you got there.

Nice! And you're not broke. You've just converted some of your liquid assets to Canon assets.

You had the same set as I did (350D, 17-40L and 70-200 2.8L).
I am now in the process of upgrading (sold my 350D) and will pick up the 30D after next month paycheque.
