boss wants to make this into a post card to mail out toe clients to get them to get some landscpae lighting

anyways, if you look above the house

I'm pretty sure those little spots of light are actually flare, caused by light from the building shining directly into the lens.

It can be accentuated by filters, and also if the lens is not scrupulously clean, but ultimately any lens can do this if a light shines straight in.

It looks like internal lens reflections from a couple of the light sources in the pic. Quite common in this sort of shot.

Of course, it could be a UFO. ;):)

If you send it to a UFO mag, they'll probably publish it and claim it is a UFO.. I've seen soooo many pics published in these sort of mags which are clearly lens flare or internal reflections, it's laughable really.

Was it shot through a window? It looks like hanging lamps reflected in the glass.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

I looks to me like you took the shots with a filter on your lens. If so, try shooting night shots without one to see if it helps.

Maybe it is a UFO :):) Sure looks like one. Be sure to wear your aluminum foil hat tonight as I am sure that they are going to try to get you.

It depends on the light source entering the lens at just the right angle to reflect onto another element, it can appear to be quite random and most shots won't be affected. Having a UV filter fitted can make this worse / more frequent but it is a risk with this sort of shot.

I wouldn't let it worry you, it isn't a camera or lens fault. I would just clone them out - about a 15 second job when you process the image.

Who cares if it is really a UFO if they pay well? :p
