Using a 1D's MKII and a 70-200 2.8IS what would you hook the Monopod up to, body or lens?

ring on lens is best way. once in a while I either don't have the tripod ring on the lens, or just am too dumb to use it. You can get away with either way, but you lose the ability to go portrait if you don't use the tripod ring. Unless you want to pick up the monopod and hold it at 9 or 3 o'clock.

Definitely the lens. Not only does it give you the flexibility to switch between landscape and portrait modes very quickly, it also balances out the combo a lot better. And also puts less strain on the lens mount of the camera, to boot.

I can't wait.
Still there is time before new camera will produced and be released.
and i am not sure what more features will be there on that new model.
Anyway, you can wait if so, who knows what you can get.

I am not getting the 1D's MKII anymore it's too much for a hobbyist. If in the future i do this for a living then i will get it.

So for now my 30D will have to do.

I am going to buy 3 lenses for my 30D and keep and save my money.

The three lenses most likely be something like;

10-22
24-70L
70-200 2.8L

I am still going to think about it for a week or two.

I'd love to get the 1Ds MKII now but i don't need it and it would be silly to get it now:(

Thanks for all your advice guys.

LOL Thanks for the advice Dante King.

Now what lenses to choose.

120-300 2.8 Sigma DG

Plus 2 more lenses UWA if possible and a standard Zoom, what should i get?

This is my current list.
1D MKIIn
10-22 (30D) or 17-40L
24-105L
120-300 2.8 Sigma DG

Will the 17-40L be wide enough?

I'll have to order soon so i get it before Christmas. I'll do it next week:)
