Went out for the first time this winter looking for eagles and was glad to see they had come back for the winter. I can see I am going to have to work a little on focusing on moving subjects. One question I have is that I am using the * for focusing and was wondering if I have to continually hold and press * to focus on the eagle as it flies, or once I press the * button and have the eagle in focus [Say just before it is preparing to fly], can I just move my lens with the eagle and snap the shutter. Thanks.

Sorry, just read your question. Are you using AI Servo?

I find it too clumsy to use the * for focusing. Since my finger has to be on the shutter tit anyway, I have trained myself to keep it half way down until I shoot. But, either way, in AI Servo, it will continually focus as long as you hold it.

Your way seems to work too though, #3 is just awesome. :)

Thanks all for your comments. Sounds like i am focusing correctly, maybe i am just a little out of practice. #3 is my favorite too.
