Hello all

I just started posting on this forum and I wanted to have an avatar image, so I went and chose the image that I want to use as my avatar. The size of the image is 51.2 KB; so I took the image into Photoshop to resize it.

I opened the image size dialog box and changed the pixel dimensions, but the size of the image did not change enough for it to be acceptable to this forum.

How do I resize the image to the proper size (80 x 80 or 8.0 KB, which ever is smaller)

Thanks
Harry

Resize the image in photoshop to 80 x 80 pixels
then go file > save for web

Choose the jpeg option, and they give you several choices of quality (compression) to save at. choose one that fits in the Kb limit ( can't remember exactly what it is)

Then save the resized image to somewhere you can find it easily - I have a folder on my desktop called Pix to Post, in which I stash any resized images that I might wish to post to POTN. then follow the instructions to upload the avatar. Job sorted!

Sometimes if there are not a lot of colors, convert to gif and then save. It shrinks a bit.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
