I have ordered few items from B&H just right now and they advised me to take an extended Warranty for 3years more, means 4 years warranty, is that necesary?
and i didn't get what he said but i can remember that he maybe said that it is international warranty as well, so i want to know more details on that if some of you did that before.

Companies want people to buy extended warranties because they are money stealers. Most times your product won't break in 4 years. Most often happen within the first year or several years down the road 5+.

Extended warranties are never of financial benefit unless a covered item breaks. The probability is MUCH higher that your item will not break and your money could have been poured down a hole in the ground for all the good it did you. That is why people sell the extended warranties. Selling extended warranties puts a lot of cash in their pockets and costs them virtually no more than the price of a piece of paper to seal the deal for each warranty they sell.

If you add up the prices of all the extended warranties that people want to sell you (for your new automobile, dishwasher, television, camera, etc.), you would have the price of replacing most of those items (except for the automobile, of course). If you took the money that you might have spent on those extended warranties and tuck it away in a savings account, then you would be covered to repair (or in many cases totally replace) an item that breaks. The probability is that the money would never be needed, though, and you would benefit by having it in savings.

So it is better not to have that extended warranty then?
In fact i don't want that extended warranty as well but i don't know why i didn't understand what he was talking about (the salesman) and i accepted at the end to get that extended warranty.
Anyway, it is my biggest order ever so i hope that extended warranty will keep my order in savings if something happened to my order, still confusing if i have to cancel that extended warranty or keep it (it is about $380 anyway)

Thank you for replies

Many extended warranties require you to take (or send) the item to the selling dealer rather than directly to a manufacturer's service facility. That doesn't sound practical for you, being in the UAE.

Get a refund on the extended warranty if at all possible. Tuck the money away "for a rainy day" or use it to buy other equipment that you really wanted anyway.

Extended warranties are very, very profitable fo rthe companies who sell them.

FAR more important IMHO is to make sure your pride and joy and the attendant glassware is fully insured.
But be carefull - lots to consider.
You must be sure they are covered for 'loss' and 'accidental damage' (two very different things) both in the home and outside it.(again, two very different things)
Are you insured direct with an ins. co. or thru a 'broker'? Are you insured on a 'new for old' basis? And get it all in writing!!
I gave my broker a printed list of all my camera kit including the memory cards and gaget bag and asked him to confirm in writing that I as covered - which he did!
Never forget thet any fool will sell you insurance but if you make a claim they are likeley to appoint a 'loss adjuster'who will try to find ways to treject your claim.
Your insurance companies first priority is to make a hansome profit for its shareholders - not pay out on your claim!
Happy snapping

So from what i read above i think no need for warranty extended in my case as i am in UAE far away from USA.
And if i got that warranty anyway, so should i go to an insurance company and recording my stuff for insurance to cover it?
Guide me as i never got extended warranty and i don't want it but i don't know why BH for first time they asked me for extended warranty and they never asked me before when i got 1D MarkII N, why this time, something wrong with them?
