I knew it was only a matter of time until Dante cleared the cooking grease from his head.

How can one possibly go from the current (even if soon to be replaced) world's best 35mm camera, to literally half the camera in build, speed, etc?

And to anybody who thinks for a minute that it was an even trade back, I've got a bridge for sale.

Dante, welcome back to the world of the sane.

And to the Town of 2.8ville.

me

HAHA! I was wondering when you would chime in old buddy! I have been thinking about this for some time. Even if they replace the 1dsmk2 tomorrow, that camera really is awesome and will be for some time to come. I got a trade that made really good sense and made the ultimate acquisition of the N for about 2K. Now that is a great deal I could not pass up. As well the 1Dsmk2 I got had 4321 actuation. Much better than that scratched sensor, shutter count rolled back hulk I traded away for the N and 5D in the first place. :)

You are sick Dante, you need to really seek help! ;)

I think you have moved from lense aquisition to equipment trading. You'll do anything to get something for Brown. ;)

Guess the camera move was to be expected. I was hoping the 70-200 will make a believer of you (in 4.0 or IS I dont know).

It bothers me that someone throws out a lens that I hope to own someday ;) In fact, I'm positive yours is one of the first to hit the 2nd hand market!!

I knew it! I beat that drum until the lens got sold; and I ended up talking MYSELF into it!!

Funny I have a 5D and 1D and no desire to get rid of the 5. :p :p :p

Oh, so that's where he is.... I was wondering where he'd gotten to.

And finally this thread explains why everything is normal again on the forum, indeed equilibrium has been restored, I am posting in the lens forum again (instead of general chat), Dante has gone back to 2.8 or faster and a 1DsM2, and there is peace in the world once more...

The bad news is: WHY am I looking at that 70-200/2.8 ISL again? I promised myself I would not!!!!!

Hi, I couildn't agree with yiou more on the quality issue. Every year Honda, Yamaha et al serve up new offerings with half a kilo shaved here, or another bhp there and guys tell me it's "the bomb!" I simply look at the MV Agusta in my dining room, haevy, slow amd nearly seven now, and smile...after having the best, let 'em keep the rest.

the FF camera. Sports is a sidelight, where Portraiture is $$ and my passion.

you weakling. Seriously! got a 1 series and you post this. You need a good spanking sissy boy! Try a monopod, lift some weights, take off the girls panties! Once you see the IQ you would most likely bond the lens to the body. LOL! I am just kidding about the girly man stuff, its ok, precious! LOL :)

How did you find out I'm wearing manties!?!?! Damn, that 1-series and 2.8 sure see far!! ;)

Maybe that is a good reason to buy one...

Actually, handhold weight is OK - what I object to is lugging the lens to and from its intended locations, which usually involves a lot of walking with the lens in the bag. I don't mind if I'm actually using it as well, but on landscape shoots, I need a tele as a backup (in case anything interesting pops up), so it's usually carrying a lot of weight for not very much gain.

I'm used to shooting a 70-200 Sigma with 1D.. far from the 'dream setup', but weightwise it is similar. No pod needed or wanted either ;)

Like I said, get a monopod and attach the lens to the pod and then sling the whole set up rifle style over your shoulder. I do this with my 1dmk2N and 300 2.8 and it is sooooo easy, but I wear boxers :)
