No way can this thread be dormant for a year.

I do some portrait work, and a lot of low light church photography. I just bought a 35mm ART to improve my indoor work; I need the 1.4 inside. To fund this lens I am selling my Tamron 24-70 2.8 VC.

One problem with this is every year I do a small number of group photos, and I need 24mm..... an inexpensive 24mm due to lack of use. That led me to reading this entire thread. I enjoyed watching the evolution of bodies being used over 8 yrs, from a 10 D to a 6D!

In Hawaii I did an ok milky way picture with the widest I have, the 35mm 1.4. Not wide enough!! Couldn't this lens be used for some low cost astrophotography?

Anyone want to sell their 24? I'm scouring POTN, FM and Ebay.... where else should I be looking?

Here's a reworking of a 2014 shot. The Marina Bay Sands Resort is very impressive in person:

This lens wouldn't be a bad choice. It's not the sharpest lens in my bag (my EF 50mm f/1.4 is the sharpest, even sharper than the 100mm Macro!) but it's decent. It is fine in the center, but a little soft in the corners. It's served me well for many years. I've read that the new 24mm f/2.8 IS is a little sharper, and it is the same compact size. This lens is very handy to keep in a pocket when you go out and you think you might want to take some photos, but the intention of the trip is not photography. This lens and my 50mm f/1.4 are a good team in that respect.

I have no regrets about buying this lens. I intend to hang on to it, even if I replace it as my main wide angle lens. Good luck to you, mpstan!

Thank you. I managed to find a nice copy on Ebay; the price was right for how much I plan to use it.

It was aided somewhat by the fires burning in neighbouring British Columbia.
