Hello, Is anyone here up to and or have the time to give personal tips and advice? Im reading books and a few things online. Most of it I dont understand.. Anyhows.. just asking

I think yesterday I linked you to all the threads that answers questions. This is too general of a question. What kind of photography do you want tips for? If you want to do portraits, I say "get a prime lens." Play with it. If you shoot landscapes, I'd say get a tripod. Can you be more specific?

The best way to get good, useful answers here is to give as much information as you can and be as specific in your question as possible. That will increase the chances of other being able to help or guide you to links, books, posts, etc.

yes you and a few others linked me to lots of helpful sites.. I was looking for more or less a *buddy* that I can turn to to ask questions..maybe someone with a lil extra time..seems that you seemed a bit irratated that I asked this general question. I am sorry.. didnt mean to impose......

Just wanted someone I can turn to too ask questions instead of posting 15 posts a day asking well..what exactly in plain english does...af mean..KWIM?

what do you like to take photos of? nature, city stuff, portraits....etc?

if you're feeling a bit overwhelmed and lost...which it's easy to feel that way with this hobby at first, just start browsing the forum and reading....

that, combined with practice will answer many questions you have before you even know what to ask....hope that made sense lol

No bother, just have to be specific. Many of us here specialize. If you look at the list of forums here, you'll see that some people post only in those forums. Tim, for instance, specializes in wedding photography. When you have a question in that forum, he's sure to help. If you like to shoot birds, there is a forum for birds that lots of people here love and post. I like to answer questions from newbies to this site, like you, so I can steer you to the right place to post, but I'm not a tech expert like my friend, Jon. He's like a friend now. I say stupid things to him and he smiles nicely back at me and straightens me out. Is that what you want, because there are some possibilities here? If you are looking to buy a good copy of the 24-70L, there's always Ronald.

whew..ok..yes feeling overwhelmed..LOL to be honest with you.. i have NOOO idea what type of photos i plan to **specialize** in.. asa i learn how to take a good pic..and enjoy that type..then..ya never know right now it seems like i like to take portraits..outside. Im not into birds or landscape type photos..and lately I seem to have been exploring taking pictures outside at night..all the pretty lighted house..omg they turn out like my 9yr old took them NOW i will ask a general question
i am taking photos of my cousin and her boyfriend this weekend..Wed like to get something nice out of it..to blow up to an 8x10. what settings should i have my cam on? like the iso..shutterspeed..etc​? i have the canon 20d also which of my lens should i use? well be at a park in the afternoon so the sun will be out..were going to take photos on the bench...agaisnt the tree <love them..lol> and laying in the grass..almost like some *engagement* photos? now i have two lens..the lens that came with the cam 18-55 then the one i just bought 28-135 ultrasonic image stabilizer.... and should i use my camera flash or the external flash i bought? ok..to those that answer thanks a bunch... now im off to play inside with my cam and chase around the cat..she is going to go blind from the flash...poor baby kit kat
