I just have people make out a personal check to me (no business name) I don't have a business account. I'm not set up for credit cards and I've only had 1 customer ask if I take them. Maybe when my business is booming off the hook things will be a different story.

payment options

what forms of payment do you offer your clients? i think i just answered my own question. i guess if i am to do this the right way and bulid on my talent and determintion is to start the right way, by getting the business license and checking account in order to be able to monitor all expenses. well since i am in accounting i guess i don't have to worry about that part, LOL would it be worth it to get merchant account for credit cards in the begining or just wait until i see how the business goes?

Paypal is very easy to take if someone wants to pay with a credit card, so I'll take credit card or check. Since my business name is my name then it really does not matter.

I take checks. I can take Paypal, but I'd rather not pay the fee, or charge clients for it. They make the checks out to me, but sometimes they'll put my business name (which is my first and last name then 'Photography' so it's not a big deal). I just got my business license so I'm getting a business checking account. Just noticed that you're in Iraq...come back safe!

I expect payment by cheque or direct deposit into my bank account. If asked about accepting credit cards for my packages I usually tell people I don't accept them. If I get overseas print orders I accept credit cards via PayPal. I might look at accepting credit cards via PayPal for packages at some point, or if asked.

Well, depends on what kind of business you are running. A fancy studio in a nice location people would expect you to be able to take credit cards...But a home studio people expect to pay by cash of check.

Murtaugh, cross posting is not allowed on POTN under forum rules 3.3. You're going to get replies in both places, the discussion will be duplicated and so won't continue on so well as a single thread would. Also, IIRC, this topic has come up recently, a search will have found it.
