1 gig cf/sd ultra II=$30
2 gig cf/sd ultra II= $50

i noticed the 2 gig extreme is $92 with $20 mail in rebate which would make it $72 is the extreme III worth the extra $20 over the ultra II

you all missed the ultra2 2gb for 39 last week at multiple locations.

as for the ultra/extreme differences, it all depends. the extreme III is about twice as fast, but the camera may not be able to use it all. But it may in your next camera. Both have lifetime warranties, but the extreme can take high/cold temps better and come with recovery software.

Thank you, murtaugh.

For the longest time, I've been patiently waiting for a deal on the 2GB's ever since I saw a nice deal online for them at a particular store that never had them in stock.

Your news prompted me to check online to see if any Canadian stores had a similar reduction. As it turns out, Futureshop has them for $79.99+taxes CDN which is round about the same price if I bought them from B&H after currency conversion, shipping via one of the quicker UPS methods, and taxes. Whether or not they're in stock is another matter. :) B&H will be my backup.

The Ultra vs. Extreme debate has gone on many times here. The basic jist is that you get a lifetime warrantee with the Extreme and better versatility in, well, extreme weather conditions. There might be other factors playing here, but speed is not one of them, from what I've read. If others know more, I'd greatly appreciate them chiming in as well.

That said, I've been using my Ultra II in my A95 for a long while now with no issues. I'm debating the Extreme for the 20D when I get home and pick it up, but I'm not sure. I'm keeping an eye on deals at the moment and using that as a determiner.

And +eleventy billion to previous "thank yous". I have plenty of friends still in and who've been there and back again, and some that are still there. Your service (and everyone else on POTN who's in the same line of work) is appreciated.

In yesterday's ad, Staples offered the 1 gig Ultra II at $29.98 and the 2 gig at $49.98. No rebate.
My guess is that prices will continue to fall as we get closer to Christmas.

I'm fairly certain that the Ultra II also has a lifetime warranty.
That's what I'm using in my 30D. As to extreme weather conditions...I've never heard of anyone having problems with the Ultra II in that regard.
