ok, stupid question. What made you take these pictures. 90% of the time had I shown up to a canceled event... I go home. There have been times when the cancellation was the result of a significant event, I have stayed to cover what ever else the "other" event was. But this was mud, and I can't imagine muddy fields in the UK are that rare. So something made you think this was different enough to wisely catch what you did. Do you always do this, was it come back with something... regardless?

Hi Mark... not a stupid question at all.

I've been covering the League for about a year now... and I couldn't recall a total abandonment of all the matches before, so I guessed there was some news value.

It was first thing Sunday morning so not really the best time to phone the editor and ask if he wanted some pics.... best to just get on with it ;) There's a fixed slot in both papers for coverage of this League every week so it was wise to provide something to fill it with in the absence of action pictures and match reports.

Also, it was all the more intriguing given that matches had been played the previous week in diabolical conditions: https://photography-on-the.net …plish%2C+splash%2C+splosh

And... yep... I generally always come back with something from a shoot. Experience tells me that more often than not, it comes in handy.
