I hope somebody else likes to photograph the crowd/spectators as well so that there'll be more than one message in this thread. Anyway, here are a few shots that I like:

Most of the concerts I take pictures are quite dark on stage, let alone the audience erea ;)

Did a festival a while back however:

Great idea for a thread!

KMB: #3, 4, 5 - really sharp shots that convey personality or intimate emotion. you really seem to have an eye for this.

while

Rene: crowdsurfing and jump are well composed, excellent captures of action and one want to be there in the crowd. I don't know if people realize how quickly you have to react, change settings and compose before the moment literally goes right by you.

I should have some interesting shots from the Meredith Music Festival where I am shooting this coming weekend. As well as having a great line up of music it is renowned for a nude race!

I'll post photos next week.

Thanks. Actually, the emotion part is rather easy. It is just wonderful how true fans of a band will readily express their emotions during the gig. It shows on their faces, they cannot help it.

By the way, "having an eye for emotion" might just be the most important thing a concert photographer can possess, IMHO. If concert photography is not about emotions, then I see no reason why one wouldn't drag the band to a photo studio where one'd have perfect control over lighting conditions. So thanks for the big compliment :)

Here's a couple more (these are from the same gig as #5 in first post):

Local music festival with a few thousand people.. this chap decided to bring his dog. Didn't seem peturbed by the heavy metal going on around it :)

I try to go for artist-crowd interaction shots like the following:

Here are a selection from the Meredith Music Festival. The last shot was to do with a nude race called "The Gift" which is run annually on the Sunday (final day) of the festival - those who look closely will see the emblem painted on the people is that of the Crumpler company who make camera bags and sponsor the event. More photos of the crowd can be seen at http://www.thedwarf.com.au …_festival__1/crowd_photos (external link) and more of The Gift (seeing there is nudity) can be seen at http://www.thedwarf.com.au …usic_festival__1/the_gift (external link).

Enjoy - C&C welcome.

Wait a second! On my first post, it was noted that I posted bare male pectorals and received a kind of warning about it. In this thread, there's more male pecs as well as butts, and there's no mention here that these should be posted in the Nude and Glamour forum. What's up with that?

I'm clueless Val...sorry, someone stepped on your toes... Personally, although I choose the female gender, neither bare breast bothers me...

This forum is harmless and means no offense to anyone... Maybe, cause it was difficult to tell if one was actually not a male breast...I'd just ignore it and go on with life...or in this case, photography...
