First photos from my new XTI

I'm really not sure yet what I'm doing exactly as this is my first SLR camera. I purchased Peterson's "Understanding Exposure" book over the weekend and am starting to make my way through the XTI manual. Here are a couple of my first photos with it. I couldn't find an ornament of a duck. ;)

Thanks for the replies all.

I think the tree is about 9 feet from the candle. The dark grey blob in the very lower right of that photo is our cat sleeping beneath the tree. :)

The weekend after the American holiday of Thanksgiving (the last Thursday of November) is when many American families put up their Christmas decorations. We didn't put ours up until Sunday and we were the last ones on our block. :)
