COMPUTER FOR PORTRAITS?

At the risk of sounding foolish, I just have to ask. In this new age of digital photography, does anyone ever connect a computer to their camera while they are taking portraits so you can see what the picture would look like on a larger medium than merely the small screen on the camera?

Is this even possible to do?

I have a Canon EOS 20D.

Thanks for indulging my questions.

we had the laptop running our file software and the desktop and 24" monitor for previewing.

keep in mind models will always want to look and get distracted, so you want to turn it so they can't see it.

Just to clarify, there is no live preview (there never was on Canon DSLRs), but that's not a big hassle - I just shoot-n-see the results coming up on the screen. No models, but I do product photography and it is quite a useful feature.

Excellent point coreypolis, that happens all the time!

What we see depends mainly on what we look for.

I've heard of a guy that connected his 20D via video out to a portable dvd player for a 7" screen. hooked it to the tripod with one of thsoe fancy Bogen clamps.
