As for the second one, it doesn't do much for me. Maybe try making his face in color or everything in color except for the background (the child and the tree, etc.)? Also try and post the original version if you could. You did an overall good job, keep up the good work

Get some distance betwee the lil fellow and the tree and place it to a side (so it does not look like it is growing out of him). Bounce the flash (if possible) to get some of the ambient of the tree lights. Ryan McGill
