This is my first contribution to the POTN. Just found this site a few weeks ago and I know it's going to help my photography immensely. I'm asking for some books for Christmas...I'm a complete newbie  .

Took these two late in the afternoon on a cloudless day:

Messed around with elements and wound up with this "old WWII footage" look.

When c & c just remember I'm teaching myself. Camera is a Powershot G6.

I like the first one.

The second one has to much noise for my liking, just my opinion though.

Semper Fi Hardman!

Steve,
No sweat. I was just trying to recreate a grainy WWII footage look.

Anyone have any constructive criticism on the first one. It was one of my first sessions and I'm learning so anything helps.

I think the picture looks great, except for that clutter in the fore ground. you might want to crop that out.

Second is crap, but I do like the first one, leave the clutterin the FG, it anchors the image very well, and gives it a sense of purpose.
Good work.

Concentrate on equipment and you'll take technically good photographs. Concentrate on seeing the light's magic colours and your images will stir the soul. - Jack Dykinga
