I'm looking for a nice, clear protector for my new Rebel XTi.
I have one that isn't very good. I see many on Ebay.

If you bought one and like it...Which one?

Don't waste your money. The LCD in all EOS DSLRs is covered by a nice, sturdy and scratch-resistant plastic cover that only costs like $20 from Canon, in the event you actually manage to find someone with a diamond ring or carborundum bit to scrape against it. My cameras have been rattling around for upwards of 4 years without showing any noticeable damage.

Really? I just checked the Canon web site and didn't find any lcd cover/protector. Could you be more specific?

On the back of your camera, that's not the LCD screen, it's a clear plastic cover over the LCD screen. You can get a replacement from Canon parts if necessary. It's held in place with double-stick tape I believe.

Sorry. I've looked everywhere and can't find it. Is it on the Canon site? I checked and didn't see it. Thanks for your help.

You'd call the Canon Service Center and ask to speak to the Parts department. But your camera already has this piece installed. You don't need to order one now. It's already in place. This topic comes up several times a week. You don't need to do anything now. Save the money for another lens.

It really doesn't look like a lcd cover which is great.

If you are seriously not sure that's enough for you, you could use those PDA clear covers. But really, you don't need them. They make the screen enough blurry, you can't see completely through it. And just for your own information, in the sun, nothing helps. :) You can't see anything anyway. Those attachments advertized in the magazines that are bulky are just that. Don't spend the money on them.
