I chose the xt myself, you have to decide on how much you are comfortable spending, if I didnt just get skis for my son, and I still have to get my skis and jacket and pants, I may have gone with the XTI, but look at you grand total too, memory card, tax, what is the total. So I decided on XT and in the spring I may get a new lens. But for now, I am just trying to learn the camera inside and out. I also got a good deal because the sales guy took of an extra 10% by mistake, so the savings really pointed at the XT being the better deal. 611 for the body, Canadian, so in the US, that is like 535$ brand new. I had a good lens and a good flash already for when I bought my elan 7e.
