I would like to add pricing on my website, but my partner tells me that since we are not an official company that we aren't allowed to put pricing on it. Is this true? Are there any legal stipulations I should be aware of with this situation? I'm just not sure if I want to go through the process of making this a legit company yet since it's more of a hobby right now.

Thanks for your help in advance!

Chris

even if you are a legit company i would not want to put pricing on the website. I like to keep it open, have them call me, and talk about the job or what they want.

And I dont think it matters even if you do want to put pricing.. But then again, im not a laywer so dont take my advise.

I do not beleive that you have to be an official company to put pricing on a website.

But I am no lawyer.

I put my prices on my wedding site. Stops all the "how much?" calls, and seems to filter out all of the "I want it cheap" customers.

Chris just go down to the city/county building and ask for the county clerks office. Fill out a DBA form, pay the fee which I think was $10 or $12. Be sure to get a copy of that while you are there. For some reason trying to get a copy before you receive one in the mail is too hard to do.

I don`t put prices on my site, just what they can get if they want it. They call or email to get prices.

The only pricing I currently put on my site is for print purchases, but I plan to change this when I revamp my site it the spring. I agree that it wards off the dreaded "budget bride." :)

I use a slight variation as my customers may order quite some time after an event. Prints only, mail in order form.

Before advertising you should always make yourself legit with your local laws. Some clients may look to see if you are legit and if not may scare off the bigger client base.

Pricing is all up to you, I list print pricing and three portrait packages that it. Wedding I have a basic price list that I send out if requested. Commercial has no pricing since every job is different.

If you are hosting your website on your ISP ftp space (the free webspace you get when you sign up for internet) then you will most likely be in breech of their T&C as it should only be used for personal use.

Therefore, just leave it blank and say if you're interested in purchasing... To get in touch! ;)
