I bought a cheap $10 adapter off ebay (just a metal ring, no chip it in) and it seems to work okay. But without the focus screen manual focus is really hit-or-miss with my 400D. I have a handful of old lenses from my dad and hope to use them more someday when i get my hands on a xxD and possibly a focus screen.

Probably a split-screen is best.
