Some say that the famous Sydney harbour Bridge was based on a design from the Runcorn Bridge which crosses the Mersey in England.

You can see the likeness I guess. Taking these was the first time I've ever felt a bit scared with my camera. It was going dark and there were a gang of young lads hanging about watching me. Strange to be like that.

3rd one for me compositionally, though you should wait until the tide's higher.
Also, the pole to the left shows you need to straighten the verticals in Photoshop (a lot easier than it seems, and actually a lot of fun!)

As for the bridge, it's a cheap knock-off  :D

Thanks Adam - only problem with waiting for the tide would have been that it wasn't due in until 1am! ;)

Then you would have had lovely lights to look at! There's always a silver lining mate :D

And you can check out this website:

It has some tidal info for the Mersey through Liverpool. Might not be in your area exactly, but you can get a rough estimate as to what time High Tide is near that bridge

Thanks Andam. I actually have a tide table for the area that I acrry in my camera bag - very useful for predicting when birds are going to come in close to shore.
