I am getting back into photgraphy after about a 20 year break. Long story short switched to Video back in the 80s and have made a career in broadcasting since.
I realized I miss still photography and wanted to get back into it as a hobby. If all goes well a Rebel Xti will be under my tree this Christmas.

So now to my question....I have access to both Photoshop Cs and CS2. The Station I work at upgraded to CS2 a while back but some of us die hards have kept CS in our computers because we just felt more comfortable with it. However for digital photgraphy which one is really better or is there and real advantage to one over the other? We don't use the software to manipulate photographs we do more graphics work with it.

I do a more Landscape photgrahy than anything else but I also want to try some portrait and macor photography as well.

Thanks

My answer is probably more economic than anything else, but I think we can expect another major upgrade sometime in '07, so you might want to wait till then if you have CS already available.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

I think the one you are most comfortable with will get used more often.

I have used CS and CS2 and there is not a lot of difference. I have settled on CS2 as it seems to handle my very large tiffs (1.2 gig and larger) faster.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

Well if you decide to shoot RAW and plan on using Photshop to process those RAW files without any workarounds then CS2 is the ONLY way to go over CS. That said, the upgrade in 2007 might be worth waiting for.

I have access to both versions...both CS and CS2 live on my work PC....but I kept using CS because thats what I was comfortable with and for broadcast work it does just fine. But I thought for still photgraphy CS2 may be the way to go....I had the station order a book on CS2 so I think I'll give it a try.

Now if you want to really get a headache.....try playing with Adobe After Effects

I agree with belmondo - I have CS now, I know that CS2 has some nice features (Smart Sharpen and features for working with high-dynamic range images for example), but I'm waiting for the next version that's supposed to come out sometime next year before I upgrade.

Since you have access to both CS and CS2, you can find out for yourself if CS2 has something that you absolutely want that's lacking in CS.
