SmartDisk 40gb Photo Bank - $99.95 at Staples

My weekly Staples ad has the SmartDisk Photo Bank with a 40gb drive for $99.95.

I picked one up. It doesn't have a viewing screen, but it takes all of the most popular card formats, and it gives copy status and sizes of the freespace on the HDD and the size of the card.

I've been waiting for the Canon M40/M80 to make the scene, but that may take forever. In the meantime, the Photo Bank is compact enough to carry in my Holster bags (4.5" x 3.1" x 1"), and it handles SD cards (which my original Flashtraxx will not), and gives me the basic "clear the card" capability.

Jesus I wish I would've known about this before I got my Nexto CF a few weeks ago. Ended up spending close to $200 for 40gb of storage.

I looked at that but I read several user reviews that complained of unreliability with the SmartDisk photo bank so I decided to skip it.

Jeez, I guess I'll have to wring it out a bit before I depend on it as the only copy of an image - thanks.
