Best online digital print service?

I'm looking for opinions on the best places to upload digital files for professional looking prints. I've used Ofoto and Mpix. I like Mpix, but I'm looking for a place that will also do die-cut wallet photos (the rounded corners) that look more like you get from pro studios. I don't mind paying more for quality-looking stuff.

Any opinions?

Thanks, Holly

after you upload your digital files do they have the software that allows you to do the appropriate crops (when necessary)? that seems to be the problem that i've experienced with the online services, indiscriminate cropping.

NG, they have a small preview feature that shows where they'll crop. At least that gives you the opportunity to recrop accordingly.

best

No, meaning that you can go back to Photoshop and recrop your image to compensate, and then reupload. Though I have to say that they have not unduly "violated" any of my prints so far.

ok, i see what your saying ilya. adorama has a software program that allows one to do whatever crops they want after showing a preview of where they will do them.

what is the best way to crop in photoshop? in other words, i've tried this but the crop lines in their software looked the same after i cropped. what am i doing wrong?

Actually, on second look, Mpix gives you a way to move the cropped area that is to be printed around the original picture. For instance, if you upload a 10x10, and you ask them to print an 8x12, you'll have a rectangle around the picture that you can move up and down. I prefer to get it right in photoshop before uploading so that you decide exactly what you want on a print.

Best way to crop in Photoshop - I preset a bunch of crop tool sizes (6x4 / 8x10 / etc) ... or you could define the dimension in menu bar each time. At the end of the day, just make sure if you are going to print an 8x12 that you upload that size or a proportional size to that; or risk getting some part of the picture lopped off.

I'm not sure what you mean by crop lines looking the same ... ?

ilya - thanks, that helps. re my statement about the crop lines looking the same, i think that it is related to the way i was cropping - sorry a bit cryptic sounding  i'll give your way a try and perhaps that will work for me. thanks again!

Mpix is GREAT !

They do a great job. I've spent $300 in the past month there getting
large enlargements on "board" and they did a perfect job for me. I got
a couple 20x24 enlargements from my 10D files and I LOVE THE QUALITY.

Also, they have a "metallic" paper that is FANTASTIC. Try it, you'll
like it!

When i have a print larger then 8x10...like 20x24 for example, then i will spend money there.

But $10 for an 8x10 print just doesnt seem worth it to me when i can do it on my own printer and get amazing results for far less.

I'm not doubting the quality, especially since i have nothing to base it on ;-)a
