On a whim (Dell deals) purchased a 5D to go along with my Nikon gear (D2XS and D2HS). Fortunate enough to have the means to mess around like this and heard so many good things about the 5D. I know maybe the 30D is probably a better fit sports-wise, but I already have 8fps bodies in other gear.

These shots are literally hours after B&H delivery and playing catch up with new body familiarity. I found the 5D easy to get around on menus, settings, etc. Will be more prepared the next time for on location tweaks of settings. The 5D feels good in your hands and very manueverable.

First 3 shots are ISO 800 and mix of 1/500 & 1/640 f2-2.2. Last shot is ISO 1000, 1/640 and f2.5.

Pretty much right out of the camera and cropping only. Fairly happy with the results with only having read the manual for 15-20 mins, a few minor tweaks of settings and being totally new to the 5D. I can see though, this is going to be fun to play around with.

Thanks in advance for looking.

Have a great day

Used the 135 f2L. Real pleased with fast AF. Found it a bit long, but just need to find a good spot to shoot from.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. Decent enough lighting that day. Literally, had 30mins from opening 5D box to going out to use it. Found things quite easy to use with a few tweaks.

Great action. White balance may benefit from some tweaking though. The 135mm is not too long.

Thanks for commenting, Ron. Agree, need to play around with WB and find a happy medium.

Yeah, the 135 is such a good Af performer, I just need to find a good shooting spot in the gym to use it.

that's one nicely lit gym then... in the gym i photograph in, i get 1/400 @f1.8 and iso 1600... for you to get faster at lower iso and av, it's pretty bright

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.
