I'm still putting up images from last Friday nights boxing card at the Chumash Casino Resort. I had actually started shooting during the weigh-in the day before the bouts but didn't capture anything of interest, except when I went back after the event to post process and realized that Eduardo had been "up" and energetic the whole time ... smiling and friendly as were his handlers and management, Romanza Boxing out of Mexico I think. I won't chatter more ... here are images:

#1 Eduardo, happy, confident and full of energy.

#2 In the ring before the first round, a Sportrait:

#3 This is pretty much how the whole match went:

#4 Zepeda did get in some good blows but they just weren't strung together well.

#5 He would get the advantage, as here, and then dance away from it.

#6 Escobedo just kept hammering away with great consistency.

#7 Eduardo in victory:

#8 And finally the Eye-in-the-Sky:

Over all an excellent sequence of events summing up the action...

RE: uniforms/git ups:
I like the Romanza tailoring and color combination on the red and gold shorts...

Hey.... number 3 is a peach of a shot. Love the motion in it. The rest are very nice, but if I were adding a shot to your fight portfolio, I really like that one.

John, yes, very nice tailoring! :-) Once in the ring he was not the nice kid I saw on the scale ... he was a brute! Once the bout was over, he was Mr. Wonderful again.

Dawg, thanks. In #7, the guy in the background between Eduardo and the Ref is Carlos Baeza, another famous, talented and super boxing tog from the Long Beach area south of L.A. His big tip for me was during weigh-in when he got the commission to move the scale so that rather than facing the black velvet on the wall (it was on stage) it was facing open space ... I would never have thought of asking them even though they all know and like me ... I will certainly do this in the future ... it also helps any other newer tog who is there shooting.

Mark, thanks. I actually have a few I like better but haven't even thought about putting together a portfolio. I have more to do than time now. Every time I hand out a card I say, "I'm not looking for work but you might want to look at my website ... take any pictures you like." If I don't say that I get asked if I can shoot this or that. I'm not making a fortune but I just don't have time to take on anything else and still give my permanent clients what they need.

I love Boxing...Wish we had more of it here.

I was watching boxing last night I had Tivo'ed while I was out of town for the hoildays and I kept looking for you ringside shooting away. This fight was not one of the ones I tivo'ed though...

If you look at one of my Eye-in-the-Sky images, I am in the far left corner, on the left side of the corner. I am wearing a black short sleeved polo shirt (with my name and logo embroidered), dark pants and have a beard (I look like my avatar.) The Eye-in-the-Sky shoots from the same direction as most of the TV cameras and I shoot from the mat in the opposite direction. I also tend to stand up on the mat at the end of each bout to shoot the winners ... in this fight I would be the guy closest to the farthest corner post. I am the good looking one! In the past my workmates have complained that they have seen me on TV.
