I was wondering if anyone might know the difference in Noise levels using the high ISO settings (1600 - 3200) for both cameras.

Would anyone either have pics to attach, or a website to point to?

Thanks!

the 5D is the best for noise amongst all Canon DSLRs (possibly all DSLRs...)

I think there are some side by sides at dpreview.com I havnt been able to find it though.

Its better, but not by a big margin.

One Caveot though, I think both tests were in JPEG mode. Shooting RAW may have slightly different results.

To quote Phil from DPR.
"Apart from the obvious resolution difference the EOS 30D and EOS 5D produced fairly similar levels of visible noise and also limited softening at ISO 1600 and 3200."

And from Cameralab
"Noise levels on the Canon 30D remain impressively low throughout its entire range, even at 800 and 1600 ISO. Indeed it essentially matches the EOS 5D up to 800 ISO with its big brother only coming into its own at 1600 ISO and above."

I shot some pics a few nights ago at 3200 ISO, I use a 24-70mm L and I was not very impressed with the quality in terms of noise level. That's what prompted this question.

Lens shouldn't really affect noise level, it's more a function of the snesor and the processing program. But nice to hear you're plaesed with it.
