Hello people, I've just sold my 350D (with the kit lens) and I'm looking to buy 30D; any suggestions on where to go for the best price? I've been looking at the HK dealers on ebay but then I can't use the £100 rebate with them so it isn't really cheaper and I would rahter a UK seller as it's easier if any problems come up.

I'm thinking of going for the 30D body only and the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG MACRO rather than the 30D with a kit lens. Any comments on that? From posts that I've read this lens is much better than a kit lens and it's not too expensive (about £200). I know I'll be losing 18-23mm but then if I want wide angle I'd be tempted to go for a Sigma 10-20mm later on.

Currently have a Sigma 70-300mm APO macro, Canon 100mm macro and Speedlight 430EX.

There's an ebay seller that many UK based ppl use on this forum. I bought my 5D and 2 L's from the guy. Search for Kerso on the forums.

I managed to get the rebate on my 5D back in August, and from some of the posts towards the end of this thread, https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=64418 , it seems many others have too.

Though I'm not sure if he stocks Sigma lenses.

:)

Well, I've just brought the Sigma 24-70 F2.8 EX Macro on ebay from Hong Kong, it was the best price I can find and includes an international warranty. Bristol seems to be good for the 30D but I've held back for today to see if someone can give a better price elsewhere.

I recently bought my 30D from jessops, they are also doing a 10% refund between the price they advertise it for, so it cost me £729.00 and less of course the £100 refund making £629 :)

That's the same as Bristol, better to go and buy it in store though; instant gratification :)

So wow, Jessops is looking like the best so far!

How are you finding the 30D? I've just packaged up my 350D to send off to the buyer so am camera-less now :/

It was a big jump for me, haven';t used an SLR for years, not since buying a minolta dimage S304 ( excellent camera )
I am still reading the instructions and have only tried taking a shot of the full moon with a 500mm lens. consider I hand held it, it came out remarkably well albeit not pinsharp.
I am taking it for a good test run this weekend :)

have fun

I have strong suspicion that if I don't find a better price I'll be standing outside Jessops at 9am on Saturday morning :) That said they don't sell Hoya ID Pro UV filters and I need one, so I may go up to Jacobs in Central if the price is the same.
