I friend of mine, on my advice, over a year ago, purchased the 20D. He's not nearly as nutty as are we when it comes to cameras.

When he wanted a lens recommendation, I told him to get the 28-135. I figured it was an all around, all purpose lens that would suit his needs.

Well, it did for a while. (Let me add that this gentleman and his wife are worth a few million, and I'm not exagerrating, but I didn't want to steer him to L's at first.)

When he wanted more reach recently, I recommended Canon's new 70-300 which he bought.

So, his kid celebrates his bat mitzvah recently and he had, besides the videographer, at least three photographers there. Two were using the 24-70 and another was doing candids with the 70-200L.

So, he calls me and asks what they were using. He's not happy with the results from the 28-135.

Long story short, he bought the 24-70 in B&H yesterday and is ga-ga over its performance.

"Why didn't you tell me about this originally?" he asked me.

I told him he'll appreciate it more now.

Sounds like he is nuttier than you suspect. Give him a link to this place and we will have his bank balances headed the right direction in no time at all!
