thank you all for your feedback....It means a lot to have the support from people who do not even know me
I'll share a little more light on the matter, I guess I left some important points out because I didn't want my original post to be long.
I am currently a resident of Canada and only Canada, however my Parents immigrated from Italy. The relationship with the person I am with is in Italy. However we plan to make a home in spain.
We do not plan to get married, so this will get much harder no doubt.
Aside from my relationship, this is something that I wish to pursue regardless if I do move or stay. I guess you can say I have two love's in my life, one is of another person, and one is in this new found trait-passion that I'm looking to improve.
Both are seperate and each ambition is differen't.
I am fluently tri-lingual. English-French-Italian and can pick up Spanish pretty easily since Italian is my mother toungue and there are many similarities, while I was vacationing in Barcelona this past June I noticed I tend to pick many spanish terms and was able to learn them, the rules of the langauge are fairly similiar, and I have a good grasp on the differences in pronouncations.
in terms of legally working at a job in europe, yes it will be very difficult, whcih is why I wanted to pursue freelance. If I register my own company, or open my own business I thought I'd be able to sort of sponser myself. No doubt there is red tape and politics to deal with, I'm learning about them as a go along, but I expect there will always be suprises/challenges along the way. I wouldn't mind working as an apprentice for a number of years, because I love to learn.
If I have no alternative, I can become an Italian citizen by living in the country for three years. Problem is it's three years of not being able to work. Because my parents are born there, I can have access to citizenship BUT..since they were naturilized before I was born the blood line was cut..or else I would be enetitled to dual citizenship right away.
The busines of photography from what I seen in Italy is much differen't than north america.
the weddign photography business itself is oversaturdated which is typical fo everywhere, but portrait work is not as common...as well as school or graduation photo's don't seem to be common either. (differen't culture)
the big thing in Italy is Fashion Photography (and tourism), and I have to admit I'm very intrigued. As much as I like portrait and family shots, there is something artistic about fashion photography that I really like.
I also like the idea of opening up a portrait gallery. I had the luxury of showcasing some of my work in some local galleries of friends, nothing big but interesting and I even had one sold.
There are many avenues to take. I'm open enough and enjoy them from this point and I'm sure as time progresses and I gain experience the choices will narrow and I'll be able to further improve my skills.
All in all the nature of this post came from some self doubt. your responses have helped me come to terms and handle that self doubt much better.
I thank you all again
