Here we are, no more lomography and half-witted, discarded, missed and OOF shots. This is real now, no more funny stuff and that lame Limey "craic", no more blogging nor spamming....speak to me thru your photographs, girls and boys, men and women.

THE THEME IS:

"THE PLACE WHICH BRINGS BACK MEMORIES FROM MY CHILDHOOD"

(1)The contest will run for two days, i.e., until Friday night.
(2)You can post as many entries as you wish. However, you will get demerit points for every lame, cliched and/or insincere entry.
(3)Do not try too hard to be funny......instead, attempt to be good !
(4) I will judge the entries using an appropriately rigorous standard of technique and creativity.

Good luck.

BTW....has anyone heard from CanonDyke today ?

Since my childhood was spent in a place about 3000 miles away and very different from my current location I guess I will bow out as well. Although I don't know that I even qualify as a "real photog".

Mike, the key words are "the place which brings back memories..", i.e., does not have to be the very place where you grew up.

This set of swings is rather sentimental to me. I used to swing on them when I was a young child, and some of my fondest memories of my childhood are of my father pushing me on this swing (the one on the left). It was taken at a local park here in Waverly. Manual focused, 5D and 50 1.4. Because of my "background" with it, this is one of my favorite shots I've ever taken.

Good show Ronald....that sorta meaningful , sincere photography is what we are after here.

Here is one of mine, a reminder of my rural roots.

Under that tree seems like it would be a wonderful place to be. :-)

We had a flowering quince in our yard when I grew up. I used to cut the flowers and give them to my mom and grandma.

I come from a commercial fishing family. I grew up cleaning Dungeness Crab (and lots of other things!). My Grandfather, 4 Great Uncles and my Dad all hand made these same kind of crab pots.

I literally played on and around them all the time. I have vivid memories of riding my tricycle around them and playing as a small child. Seeing these pots rings all sorts of childhood memories rushing back....

The only source of heat in my parents home were wood furnaces. I was splitting smaller wood logs and preparing kindlings since I was about seven years old.

here's a simple one for you.. I promise to go out and about and look for shots tomorrow.. But here's a simple one might be a tad cheesy with you but it goes something like this..

The side of my aunts house had these huge rose bushes.. My cousin and my sister used to have these great ideas.. Running across the street or trying to walk the cat with a leash or climbing up the tree and jumping on the roof.. I used to 'keep watch' for our mothers hiding in the rose bushes.. and eventually they came off the roof or managed to untangle the cat without getting themselves scratched whatever it was I never remember them getting into trouble and I would sit in the rose bushes and cry cause I missed out.. this is from the front yard everytime I smell them I remember all the stuff I was too chicken to do...
