Jim, I love that photo. Talk about nostalgia! Wonderful!

Thanks folks...there is a lifetime of wonderful memories between that photo and today. A loving wife of 42 years, three great kids, five beautiful grandkids, college, an Army career (21 years), a follow on engineering career (18 years & counting), a budding photography hobby (soon to be my 3rd career), and to quote Jimmy Stewart: " ... a wonderful life." Best of all there are many more years to come :)

Petkal...we were like like triplets back then and now we are starting to look like triplets again now :) Age is the great equalizer

These were found last October in the attic of the house I was born in. They were purchased by my father and left up there when we moved in 1960. No one ever took them and 3 other families lived in that house over the past 46 years!

Mo, that photo certainly brought back some of my memories.:D That RundMende radio receiver (mid to late 50's ?) reminds me of the Grundig radio we used to have......that was the ultimate in home entertainment before the TV phenomenon exploded into our faces.;)

When I was stationed in West Germany in the mid 60's purchase of a 110 volt version of the Grundig was a "must" buy.

Like Petkal...these are great radio shots...I got a Sears & Roebucks Silvertone for Christmas at age eight and my brother and I loved to listen to the Lone Ranger, Green Hornet, Gunsmoke, and a host of others. I have collected 100s of MP3 files with these old radio shows and enjoy them all the time. Who needs TV???

OK folks, we have got about seven hours left till the judgement hour.
(That's gonna be a tough call , I can tell, because there are so many excellent entries. )

So there is still a a fair amount of time to walk your camera down those memory lanes.

OK, here's one. I took this while in a small aircraft when it went into a banked turn (an ancient film shot).

Bob, don't tell me you crashed that aircraft into a power plant stack ?;)
Looks like two gas fired boilers ? Perhaps even diesels/CTUs, hard to tell the size of the plant.

Great nostalgic thread Peter...thanks. This is a shot of where my parents summer place was and I've spent every summer there for my entire life (at least weekends as an adult). I met my wife on the dock shown in this picture, and we have since bought a cottage on the same lake, so our kids can experience the same place and make it a special place in their hearts. Its also the location where all of my duck shots come from!! Sorry about the compression...its an older shot that was sharpened before resizing

This is the church where my parents were married and I was baptized. Everytime I go back to Pittsfield, Massachusetts, I have to go visit it and try to picture my parents on the front steps in their wedding finery. It makes me feel wonderful everytime I see it.

Here we are , the judgement hour.
To cut to the chase, there will be no awards in this contest tonite.

The entries are all fine photos in their own way, and our recollections and reminescences of people and times past are perhaps one of the most precious things we have.......how can anyone rate and rank individual men's and women's dearest memories ?
Petkal certainly will not even attempt to commit such a folly.

The only thing that behooves Petkal to say at this point is to thank all of you for sharing a bit of your personal history with us.

Petkal,

Good decision and I wholeheartedly concur. All the posted entries represent wonderful memories.

My personal thanks to you for starting this thread...I enjoyed participating in it and I especially enjoyed the many great entries :)

Petkal,

Closing it at 2:44 PM PST, is not Friday night... You didn't give some of us
West Coasters a chance before your magnaimous decision....

So here is a couple of photos of my daughter at the playground (since I didn't get
a chance to go home and look at my older photos), who reminds me of the joys
of youth every time I see her.
