Shot my son's match today using both the 400 f/5.6L and the 70-200 f/2.8L. I find myself really liking the 400 IF there is enough light. For some reason, I was struggling a bit with AF today. You win some, you lose some... it's the nature of the game. The light has been going away before the matches end, but I can still use the 400 for most of the match. That late afternoon light is a double edge sword. It's beautiful, but the angle of it at this field is not perfect as it hits the pitch sideways. Oh well, I'm really happy the season is finally here. C&C welcome as always.
Regards,
Jeff

A nice set of shots that are crisp and bright. Steve

Jeff i think you have done very well with these, the nice light does add that little bit extra punch to shots i have found unfortunatley we dont get it as often as we would like here in the UK .

musicmate - I concur.
Looked at these images and was struck by the vibrance. Try getting those over here on a 2:00pm / 3:00pm kick off this time of year. I try each week to follow my Son's U15's team and it's getting harder and harder to get an image, let alone ones with such colour.

Nice work Big Hands, #2 is my favourite, more please.

Gary, you were not far off. I'm in Santa Clarita which is about halfway between downtown Los Angeles and Palmdale (high desert).

Steve, Nigel and Gary, thank you for the comments.

Nigel, here you go....

Jeff

Yup. When I first shot in these conditions, I used to fight it by trying to adjust WB and using curves in PP. Now I have I have grown to not only accept it, but I truly like it.

We get it in the mornings too. In fact I am going to try to shoot a match first thing this morning (Saturday) just to see if I can catch some more of it, although it's supposed to rain sometime today..... :~/

Jeff

'Stang, when I first saw that GK I thought it was a girl. It took me several minutes and several glances to get it right.

Thanks for the comments.

Jeff
