Here are a few shots that i did for my friend. After this shoot i have come to the conclusion that I really need to get rid of this kit lens. Tell me what you guys think.

Thanks

Ken

Are you sure its the lens?
your exif data is missing so I cant tell but at what setting did you shoot at?
did you use a tripod?

I really need to get rid of this kit lens.

Not a great lens at all, but not terrible under the right conditions either. When I need a wider angle, I've taken thousands of shots with it.
Archive best shots from the "kit lens"-EF-S 18-55.

why would you need a tripod for shots like that? It might just be the compression or how you saved them or at what quality. Pictures look good to me, but for a LS1 powered RX7, you could have shown some engine pictures (to show emphasis)... just looks like a normal RX7 to me...

I had previously taken engines shots, so it wasn the emphasis here. But here is a shot:

I need to some real good ones, but with all of us in school right now and this is the begining of Finals, and considering the amount of work it takes to detail an engine bay.....It wont be happening until next semester probaly.

And on shot # 2 i did use a tripod, the others had an shutter of atleast 1/80, but i need to figure out at what f/ stop it is sharpest. Like the 50mm gets real sharp at f/8.

sharpest point at the wide end is f8, at the long end is f11 imo...

I think these shots are fine. Like previously stated, it might be the compression. Also like previously stated the kit lens has it's sweet spots. I know a guy that has all kinds of high end glass but I have seen him with that kit lens mounted on his 20D more than any other lens. I might add he is a great photographer, I wish my pics looked as good as his.

My first thought when I saw shot #2 was, "is that oil leaking under the car" maybe you could clone that out. Other than that, fine shots, and locations.

As a rotary owner myself I always cringe when I see this conversion.

But I love LS1's too so it evens out.

Great photos :)

im viewing from a PDA and it looks blurry on the screen.
now that I see it from home on an actual monitor, I see its compressed...A LOT.

I just 're-uploaded' the shots for a better resolution. Plus i think i have found a better way of saving jpegs for the intrnet.

Thanks for the comments.

"Better" is relative. Yes, they will look better at almost a MB in size, but you'll upset the 56K people if you don't put a warning in your title. (I added it this time)
Look at some of Kenny's shots. They're under 150KB & look pretty good!
