Just noticed today as I rototate from 28 to 35mm I hear a slight clicking sound and feel just a small amount of resistance. It appears to be working ok. Anyone have any ideas or experience about what this might be? Canon 5d, Canon Rebel XT, EF 17-40mm F4L, EF 70-200mm F2.8, EF 24-70mmF2.8L, EF400mmF/5.6, 500mm F4 IS, Canon 1.4x, 2.0x, Speedlite580ex, PhotoShop CS3, Lightroom, Epson P-2000

Build quality is excellent on the lens and the zoom ring is beautifully dampened and smooth. Something does not sound right with your set up.

Tareq "I am very lazy, a normal consumer"  More info | Be sure that nothing is going in that lens when you zooming, some dusts or sands or anything else, it is not push&pull lens but it is extended lens so maybe something going in while you extend it and pulled it back and stuck inside Galleries:
