I think that Epson makes a fine bunch of scanners. I've got a 6 year old Perfection 1200 Photo and it's still going strong. How do the specs on the 4490 and the Canoscan 9950f compare, and what will be your primary use?

My primary use is to take all these 4x6's and get them on comp. Im not expecting lab results, but i DO want a high quality clean scan of them. I dont have the negatives/slides. All I have is the actual photos and I want to know which of these 3 is best to scan that kind of material.

So if I do go with something cheaper like the 4490, I can expect a good scan right?

sapearl Cream of the Crop More info | Jan 06, 2007 08:25 | #21 I would think so - practice with a couple of different scanning resolutions and see if one gives you better range than the other. Then print a few and compare them to the original. You'll eventually find a balance between optimum resolution, file size and quality of output. - Stu august23 wrote in post #2497194 did i mention these 4x6's are from only about 15 years ago? theyre all kept in perfect condition, they havent faded, they havent ripped, or collected dust (theyre in sleeves).
